My friction lever on my main Lewmar hatch broke and I need to replace. I've already ordered a new one, but can't quite tell how to remove the old. Specifically the small bracket attached to the hatch frame with what look like rivets. I've attempted to pry, but had no luck. Should they be drilled out? Just thought I'd ask before I take apart the hatch frame. Thanks in advance. BTW they give you pop rivets to install the new one with.

See the following link for the lever at Defender marine:

Had to buy replacement for mine too. If part riveted to frame is not broken, you can leave it and use rest of new mechanism. Once the friction bolt(allen wrench adjustment) is out, halves of friction mechanism will pull apart, without total disassembly, far enough to get over existing frame mounted part. Just work apart slowly until you can get one side on then the other. You do not have to take it all the way apart. Worked fine for me.

The part that is broke on mine is the part riveted to the frame. Everything else is fine. If they are indeed rivets I'll just drill them out and pop rivet in the new part. Just wanted to make sure... Thanks
