This winter I removed all the old plastic opening ports on my Hunter 34 and replaced them with 9 Lewmar metal opening ports. The mosquito screens that came with them did not work well. I contacted Lewmar USA and was immediately dispatched nine redesigned screens that are much more secure and better fitting at no cost. No fuss or problems. Excellent customer service.

So glad they sent you thre designed screens. They are truly much better. The original design screens are so bad they fell out every time the ports were closed. Even had a wind gust blow one out one day. And of course they sink like stones.

Unfortunately I didn't get them as compensation for a poor design and had to buy them at something like $30 each. Even communicated with Lewmar that given their brand reputation for quality that I was so disappointed with the design of the original that came with my brand new Hunter 38 and that I had to spend $250 for 8 new design for a brand new boat.
No response from them.

Oh well, the reduction in frustration I was experiencing because of them falling out was some compensation and I decided to let it go and go sailing. :)

They are now 6 years old and I'm seeing signs of deterioration due to sunlight exposure. Primarily there is a plastic button type thing that holds the screens into the frames. They have begun falling off so I've applied a dab of silicone to reattach them. Probably need to replace them next summer.
