I cannot find any comprehensive instructions for dismantling, cleaning and reassembly of the Lewmar 65st Wavegrip(?) electric winch. I have removed the drum, outer bearings, the 6 outer Allen screws on the bridge piece (center stem?) and the two white plastic collets for the center spindle (not shown in any diagram for 65st anywhere), but cannot get anything to move. How does the center spindle disengage from the electric drive and is this hampering disassembly?
The center stem assembly (bridge piece?) seems to be corroded to the black alloy base? WD-40 and PB Blaster do not work on this metal combo. Do you have any suggestions for a chemical that will break down this corrosion? I’m not going to be able to heat this evenly all round, without doing damage to the wood it rests on, so that’s out.
