Lewmar 40 Winch

My Lewmar 40, 2 speed winch on my 1983 Hunter 34 is not catching. Any ideas?

Have you ever performed maintenance on it? Check pawls for sticky grease, clean and lightly oil them.

Broken pawl spring(s)

Pull it apart. Clean it. Lube it. Replace the pawl springs. Lewmar makes a maintenance kit just for this very thing.

If one isn't working, it's a good indication all need to be inspected, cleaned and parts replaced unless you like surprises
