Hi all. I have a 2005 C310 with a Edson steering pedestal. I am about to acquire a Lewmar 32 inch 6 spoke folding steering wheel but am unsure of what lewmar code to use when placing the order. The wheel must be combatable with a Edson pedestal. Leather cover is not required.

Can anyone help?

Thanks Cam

Cam,

The Edson pedestal on our boats has a one-inch straight shaft. This is the correct wheel.

Some of the Lewmar wheels only come with the tapered shaft attachment. In which case you need to get the right hub to make it work. We got the wheel on a ridiculous sale for around $450 but we had to buy the hub for another $75. Still much better than the $750 they were going for at the time. Also, we had to get different size attachments for the autopilot. The stock wheel had 12 mm spokes and the new one had 16 mm spokes.

By the way, two years later this is still one of our favorite upgrades.

Thanks Smitty. Have to pay around $A1500 because of exchange rate and freight.
Thanks again

Ouch! That's a hit to the boat budget.

Try calling Defender and seeing if they have any on clearance. The Lewmar factory is down the street. I got mine because they made more then Catalina ordered for the new boats. Lewmar sells the overstock to Defender at a cheap cost. Often Defender doesn't list all of the clearance stuff on their website but you can call and talk to them.

Good luck.

Thanks again Smitty. I am in Western Australia hence the extra cost!
