Hello everyone, trying to figure out my spin winches, my handle does not fit it’s too big, any idea on what I should do?

Too big meaning too long? If so, there are shorter handles and they don't need be the expensive lewmar bronze handles. There are floating handles much more modestly priced.
That is unusual. Winch handles have been pretty standardized for decades. What kind of winch?
According to the Lewmar site, all winch handle sockets have been standardized since 1972. You either have a very old winch or a very old handle.
If it is the former, you will need to search for a pre 1972 handle of the correct size.

Does anyone know of an inexpensive source for the older-style Lewmar winch handle (5/8 stud for winches in 1972 and earlier)? I finally did it after 3 years: sailing solo in about 25 knots, bounced off a big wave in the middle of a tack just as I moved the handle to the winch -- and dropped it...

5/8" Lewmar Winch Handle
Does anybody know where to get this non standard winch handle? We have a 1972 Islander 36 that has the old Lewmar winches on it. West Marine had 5 of them in their entire system 2 years ago, now they have none and we need a second one.

If Lewmar winch models are still ID'd the same way, your old model 25 might be less advantaged than a current Lewmar 30. That's not very much ratio advantage for a primary winch for a 30 footer. Watch the West Marine ad next early March for their annual Lewmar BOGO sale on new Lewmar's and pick up a couple of new size 40ST winches. Your crew will thank you... !
