level countertops

I am in the process of replacing a mostly missing and destroyed interior on a 299 and I notice that the white countertops on the kitchen area and the countertops behind each couch are leaning drastically towards the hull (deck). Were they originally level or is this something that was designed into the boat. The way they are now is way out of level from ront to back..Thanks,,,

Are you saying

The shelves are up in the front, and down toward the hull side? It that way on purpose to keep books, etc. from flying when the boat heels over.Fair WindsCap'n Dave

Level Shelves

As a professional boat builder I can tell you the shelves were put in level at the beginning.No shelf is installed to account for the heel of the vessel.Sea rails or fiddles are used to keep items on the shelf as the boat heels.They may have been redone by a previous owner or warped due to water intrusion.Hope that is a help.CaptHawkRogueWave

Level. They need to be replaced... but they appear to be level.
