Any body have any experience anchoring out in a hurricane or strong tropical storm? What are the best techniques and best ways to prepare.

I don't have personal experience, and happy about it :)
But find the best pretected bay.
Remove as much equipement on the boat as possible that can give wind resistance.

Make a full in fuel, and have the engine running in the gust to remove some tension in the chain.

These would be some items to look for, but there are a lot more.

When I was in the navy, we always left port for tropical cyclones. Better to ride it out at sea than risk being in port with all the improperly secured boats breaking free and causing damage. That being said, if I had a boat of your size in your location, I would have a backup plan to get it out of the water and into safe storage ashore. Another option would be a narrow channel in which to tie off where other boats couldn't get to you. Anchoring?... really?... Ok, you set one anchor for the winds as the storm approches and one for the wind as the storm passes. And then you prepare to make adjustments as needed if you are aboard. If you are not aboard, then your boat becomes one of the above mentioned unsecured boats...
Huricanes are one of the many reasons I sail in north Idaho.
