A great big roger on that. We hae lived the last five years in Africa, and it is sooooooo good to be back home in the USA. Yeah, we have some staggering problems, but we have a huge gift of freedom to work these things out in the great Republic. Our high school kids her their peers complain, and their eyes roll----if only their schoolmates could know what it is to live in a developing world situation.

Happy 4th to YOU as well!

It is a sizzling 4th so far! We had fireworks on the lake on Friday night, so that was a good start. Today, the wind was blowing, the sails were filled and the water refreshing. We visited friends on Halsey Island and then sailed back home.

Right now, we have steaks on the grill, cold beer in hand, and I made a shrimp and crab salad which I am anxious to dig into!

Word! But I am glad to report that we had no fireworks of any kind today. And, where I am at, that is good!

Spent the day sailing had a big party at the club and then went on a friend's deck boat to watch the city's show. Many of the homes on the lake tried to out-do the city. One of the guys spent $3,700 on fireworks to go off his dock. Who the hell spends nearly $4K on fireworks?!?

Checked on the boat yesterday. Harbor closed due to oil spew. Many workers in orange vests spread out along the tri-county MS coast cleaning beach. Made the best of it. Strange no rec boats anywhere in sound. Uncanny. Hard to complain about pleasure when so many are losing livelyhood and multi-generational businesses. Still, I weep...
