Lenses in hatches

I heard people say they changed out the Plexi lenses with"auto" safety glass. I have never actually seen it, but I have read at least 1 article about it. I think that would elliminate that "crazing" you get over time. I would like to do the job once. If I go with Plexi, I'll be doing it againd in 5 years or so. Thanx

I wouldn't do that

Auto glass, although tough(laminated and tempered) is unsuited for boats. Two reasons, it must be bedded softly(non rigid, and secondly try dropping a winch handle on one and see the results. Believe me, if auto glass or ANY glass were satisfactory it would already be on decks of boats. Glass in vertical HEAVY seaworthy ports and portlights are a different matter.
