I am replacing all the running rigging on my 1986 H31. I could remove the old lines and sheets and measure, but I'd rather get the dimensions and have the new lines in hand before I bare the hardware. Some of the diameters I've chosen are pretty liberal for this boat and may need to be modified if folks think they will bind in the sheaves or clutches.
1. Halyards: 106' X 7/16"
2. Jib sheets: 50' X 1/2"
3. Furling Line: 62' X 5/16" [first 20' cored]
4. Traveler: ?
5. Soft Boom Vang: ? X 7/16"
6: Mainsheet: ? X 7/16"
7. Jib sock: ?

Check the SBO site for most of the recommended lengths and diameters for halyards and jib sheets. Furling line length on mine is 66’ and dia is what I have. I’d rather err on the side of more for wraps around drum.

You Also need to take into consideration if these lines run to the cockpit for overall length. As far as the rest of the lengths and diameters, what do u currently have and do they bind? What does ur main sheet look like? No all H31s are rigged the same.

That's interesting, Ron. While I agree that the loads imposed by our sails are unlikely to ever part a 3/8" line, when it comes to jib sheets I much prefer working with a larger diameter line. The issue in my mind was whether 1/2" would crowd the winch drum and fit in the self-tailor.
Jerry, I added additional turning blocks and clutches so I could run almost everything back to the cockpit.

Literally did 5 & 6 yesterday
Boom Vang 38 feet of 3/8” with an eye splice leads back to cockpit
Main sheet 55 feet of 1/2” with an eye splice 1/2” for the hand

I replaced the halyards and furling line a few years back, let me look through my records and see if I have the lengths. I used 3/8” on all of those, but agree with the 1/2” inch on the jib sheets. I think there is a formula out there for the furling line. To Jerry’s point about oats being rigged differently it’s not difficult to measure for the main sheet, boom bang and outhaul.
