My Yacht Club's travel lift ran into my forestay and so I had to have it replaced. Here's the interesting thing. The length of my factory installed forestay (Profurl jib furler) was 44 ft 9 inches. The replacement one Hunter sent (and the spec that is in the owner's manual) says 45 ft 6 1/2 inches. That's almost 10 inches different !! Not knowing this, we installed it anyway and besides there being more forestay 'sag', the mast seems to have more rake from being able to 'lean' back more. Here's the interesting thing: 1) It sails MUCH more efficiently in light winds and faster in higher winds (which I guess is the same thing ;-) and 2) the only downside is that with the extra rake in the mast....especially at the top....the in-mast furling get's 'caught' at the very end of it's deployment. THere is no problem when rolling it back in. Any comments on this one? Any possible problems you can see with going with the longer forestay? Have you measured yours?? My 356 is hull #190. Thanks
