I just purchased a 1994 H40.5 Legend. Is there any significance to Legend or is it merely a name? Bill Jones

The problem is, Bill, there are just too darn many stories about Hunters. So, to find out where the name Legend comes from is nearly impossible. Reading up on glass fiber and polyester may be a good start. After all, isn't this the stuff Legends are made off? Another possible clue may be offered by sailor's expressions such as: "the most memorable part of any leg is when you start it and when you end it". However, I have also seen some legs that never seemed to end (no, I am not talking about Ginger Rogers!). Why not ask your cousin Davey? Flying Dutchman "Rivendel II" (Leg-end 43)

UK Legends - USA Hunters

Bill, Hunters market their boats alround the world. In the UK there is a British boat builder call Hunter, no connection with Hunter Marine in the US. They got very upset when Hunters started coming to the UK and hence Hunter had to market their boats under a different name 'LEGEND' I have no idea where the name came from - if you are really interested I suggest you contact Barry Stillwell @ Opal Marine (the UK distributor). Chances are he originally supplied your boat from new With regard to are there any differences then I guess the answer is probably yes but mainly associated with details related to the european market - 240v etc... Hope this helps Regards Jim Randall Legend 380 'REBEL'

Way back in the achives, somewhere, Jim Bohart defined this. I would say about 1 year ago. I own a Legend 37 (1988). I don't know about the name, but it seems to me that this was a "bridge" model that introduce the "higher tech" aspects of the Hunter line. It introduced the B&R rig, was more sleek, and possibly the quality got better from previous years. I see ideas/things on Legends that are still on the current models. I've been very pleased with the boat and have had 6 seasons of complete enjoyment out of it without many problems.

be british

do not forget that the famous 3-pin electricity plug - the earth is the top pin - is unique to the british isles. france tried to get the u.k. to change this to a two pin plug without the earth pin. like the british pint, this could not be changed after britain decided to bankrupt itself - even further!- when it joined the e.c.c. - certain things the brits will not have changed. back soon for a good pint - or two - and a newspaper full of good 'ol fish and chips - french fies here for some reason - and good 'ol mushy peas. ted.
