Hello all,

Just some early morning ruminating! On the legend series just how strong is that toe rail? I would image give that it is the rub rail and deck joint combined it has to be pretty damn strong for forward and back/up and down but what about left/right?

I wonder if it is strong enough for a jordan series drogue?

Am I missing something apart from production cost as to why manufacturers moved away from this style chain plate? I always thought it was by far the most functional.

I use the toe rail on my h40.5 for attaching the friction boom brake line. In use for 6 years and I have seen no bending, loosening, or other derogation of the toe rail. However, the pin that attaches the clamp to the toe rail has deformed from the strain.

I used the same for a Walder Boom Brake. For a drogue I understand the hull attachments to the hull should be as far outboard and as far aft as possible. The optimum attachment for the drogue are stainless steel chainplates through bolted to big backing plates, one on each aft quarter so that they stick out beyond the stern. I recently purchased a 50 ft powerboat that came with a ParaTech Delta drogue...........but have not plans to use it beause if sea conditions warrant its use I will stay at the dock.
