legend 460 rudder

Hi

I am in the process of buying a 460

The surveyor has said there may be some voids in the rudder but that this is common in legends due to the method of construction.

I would be grateful for any insight owners may have.

By the way we hope to complete the purchase early next month, join the association and meet up at the next rally.

Sounds like your surveyor is unsure. As voids can deteriorate, I'd find out definitively and have it repaired.

Is the boat out of the water?
You can use your knuckle to tap around the rudder to "hear" the voids, if any. Also check where the rudder shaft goes into the rudder for openings/cracks. You will have to sand/scrap the paint off to get a good look.
