Over the winter, I plan to upgrade the prop & replace the shaft. I am considering replacing the shaft strut, too.
I'm trying to judge how much work the strut would be. I am guessing it is through bolted steel? You can't tell by looking at it because of layers on layers of paint. Directly above the strut is a (replaced) aluminum fuel tank, under the main bed. So I can't see the attachment side without pulling the tank.
So, my questions: what material is the strut, how does it attach, and are there any special considerations for aligning it when installing a new one?
