We just got back Saturday night after a 2 week vacation in the Destin FL beach area. The weather was gorgeous until the Labor Day weekend. A few showers, but all in all a perfect time. Took a wine and cheese cruise on a schooner named the Nathaniel Bowditch. The captain said we might be the last crew as he was sailing her down to Puerto Rico to start over where the sailing season is longer. The beach flags along the coast went from yellow and purple, to red and purple, to now I read they are at double red and purple! The water is off limits as there are rip tides up and down the panhandle. We had a couple jellyfish sightings, hence the purple flag but now there is a sea lice problem! Add to that the red tide further south killing off fish and mammal life and western Florida is having a rough time right now!
