LED Replacement bulbs

Another project I've got this spring is upgrading interior lights to LEDs. I know Catalina Direct has replacement domes which I think work has anyone used these?

http://www.catalinadirect.com/index.cfm ... ixture.cfm

But I don't REALLY need to replace the whole dome, just the bulb. Anyone do that? Have a recommendation on bulb and/or website?

I think there was a post(s) on this prior to the site reboot but I can't find it now.

Thanks Gents

There are festoon LED lamps that can be used! I got mine form Normon - they were a little big but did fit. - edit - Ok I found the web site for Normon and I am adding the photos of the part number and how they fit etc.

Here is another web site that has them.

I don't know about these other lamps from superbrightleds.com - lighting is making big changes these days!

Oh, also I have them on the mid-mast light and bow and stern.

I used the Catalina Direct replacements in the main cabin. The ones I have don't seem as as bright as the originals with incandescent bulbs but they DO have both red and white, which is nice. Might be worth a call to Catalina Direct to see if they've upgraded to a brighter LED. Otherwise you'll need to decide whether to use a white-only add on LED panel or what.

I ended up replacing the v-berth bulb with a pair of 50-LED strips. Waaay more light!

FWIW, I put 48 bulb LED panels in my travel trailer and those turn out to be brighter than the original incandescent bulbs. Really happy with those but they won't work with the original light fixtures.

Thanks guys - great ideas and pics. I've got an MKI and my lights are square not round. I'm pretty sure the bulbs are not festoon but are more of a push and turn socket type. The Catalina Direct replacements I was thinking of are these:

If I decide to do that I'll let you all know how they work out. For 32 bucks they are only 10 or 12 more than just getting bulbs -- so I may be rethinking that and I might decide it's worth it to get the whole fixture which is made for the LEDs.

Either way I'll let you know how it works out.
