I would like to replace the incandescent bulb in my anchor light on my 2003 Catalina 34 MKII sailboat with a LED bulb. Has any one done this? If so, what type of LED bulb did you use? I would like to do this without replacing the receptacle itself.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Anchor light replacement

Tim,

A lot depends on what anchor light you currently have. If it's the old Perkins round light on the masthead, forget about it, no way to do that. What you'll have to do is to arrange for a new light fixture. The Aqua Signal 25 series has LED lamps available for use.

There are a range of LED replacements available from many sources. However, for insurance and liabilty reasons, you should use only USCG approved LED replacements for navigation lights.
I think that only Dr LED has gone through the testing required to receive USCG approval for replacement LED navigation lights.
