All for it, brilliance and long life. They can be seen from farther out and wont likely fail at the most inopportune moment. Chances are you will not have to go up the pole again to change a bulb in the time you will own your boat. I like the integrity of an LED fixture but if all you are doing is replacing the bulb then make sure the contacts are good and clean and the fixture is water resistant.

I swapped out my 10W bulb for a LED replacement bulb 4-5 years ago. Great decision, I save close to 10Ah every day. And if I go ashore at 10am and I know that I won't be back before dark, I can simply turn on the anchor light and know that even over a 24 hour period it will only use 3Ah of power.

Do you recall the mount type Aqua Signal, etc. and the location where you bought the bulb.

Metric Mountie,

I think the fixture was a Perko. The LED bulb I installed was a Dr. LED, model White Polar Star 40 with a two-pin base and offset locking pins on the side of the base.

The bulb I installed had arrays of multiple LEDs, but I think the new model has just one LED with cone-shaped reflectors on top and bottom. Mine draws 0.09A.

I bought it at the Defender Warehouse sale that I attend every year, but you can probably get it on this site, or if you want to really splurge, you can buy it at West Marine.

I ha!ve an Aqua Signal anchor light and I used the Polar Star with the two contacts on the bottom and offset pins. Mine has the single LED with the cone shaped reflector. It is certainly brighter than the old bulb and as noted pulls almost no power. Amaziing
