Peggy: I am the proud owner of a new-to -me 1980 Hunter 33 with a Lectrasan MSD. It seems that there is no current draw from the Lectrasan unit for the two or three minutes after a flush, as I would expect. The unit is probably 10-12 years old. Is this worth rebuilding, or would I be better off with a new unit? It would be a major job to replace the unit because of the other specialized equipment on the boat, but I want to be legal. Boat is used mostly for daysailing. Thanks, Jim Logan

No current draw = not working

Sounds like it's not getting power. The problem may not be in the Lectra/San, but in the wiring or even the batttery it's connected to. Or it may just be blown fuses. Certainly it is worth repairing, whatever the problem is...but you're gonna have to get at it to do so, so whatever "specialized equipment" is blocking your access to the unit will have to be moved, whether you repair or replace. It's never a good idea to make any equipment inaccessible for maintenance, repair or replacement.
