Greetings Cherubini group-

The holding tank on my project 37C is the original and it is done. I've been reading through the archives on same (wealth of info there!). I've had several of these units over the years and they make life simple (other than NDZs).

With the desired install having the unit below the head, has anyone found a good place to mount an LS?

As soon as I post this, I'll calling Raritan to talk to Vic William (if he's still available) to get the skinny on 'above head ' mounting.

Also, this vessel represents one of my more interesting project boat stories of how it came to be. Look forward to getting established with the group.

In the archives of projects you will find some first class work from Tom Hadoulias. He installed a LectraSan on his H37C. Part of it was in the starboard v-berth locker and I think he had something under the shower seat. Unfortunately Tom sold that boat and no longer participates here. Anything on or near the bottom of that locker would be below the toilet by at least ten inches I think.

If you go with Ed's suggetion

Move the discharge thru hull from port side to starboard. that's what I did, though I am still using the orignall waste tank, and you can run the vented loop up behind the shower.

Scott's idea has merit. My '79 had everything on starboard. The thru-hull is capped and the Y-valve and pump are gone because it was a Great Lakes boat. I guess I need to think about going overboard after all these years.

Well, since posting this this morning, a couple of the variables have changed. A used LS unit that was under consideration didn't pass muster ( and a new one probably won't pass budget), and I found a pump out facility in a private marina (5$ fee) nearby. Back to the drawing board and more head scratching.
Will try to find the Hadoulias project info to see how he did his.
Also interesting to note that my 1980 is configured (diaphram pump and thru hull) under the right v-berth.

Thanks again for the input, many questions to follow.

Call the Raritan Ft. Lauderdale plant...

They often have refurb or "scratched/dented" (cosmetic only, doesn't affect performance) at a DEEP discount. All covered by same warranty as new/perfect.

I'd stay away from any you find on eBay...they're often missing parts or so old they don't work any more...or the seller has run it dry to see if it works, which destroys the electrode pack. Some of the "new in box" may never have been out of the box, but have been in it for 15-20 years! However, occasionally a good one does turn up...so if you see one that looks good, I'll be glad to take a look at it for you if you'll email the listing # to me.

But a refurb from Raritan is your best choice.

A $5.00 pumpout is close by? And do you pump overboard outside three miles? I remember that Tom had problems, I think with the salt tank. And then there is the battery issue. I guess it was '81 when they started routing the overboard and pumpout lines to the port side. Could never understand why.

I am the one who needs the LectraSan. There are no pumpouts in my new river, closest is thirteen miles. And I have no plumbing for overboard. :(
