Has anyone installed a Lectra San in a '87, '88 Legend 37? I'm thinking of placing it in the aft cabin locker behind the head but this will position it above the head discharge, contrary to directions. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

A vented loop should solve the problem

Depending upon how far above the toilet, a vented loop that's at least 8-12" above the inlet port on the unit should allow you to put it there. You'd need a vented loop there anyway, to prevent runback into the toilet while heeled...unless you want to put the treatment unit above the whole toilet, just put it a few inches higher. However, I strongly recommend that you talk with Vic Willman at Raritan (800-352-5630 x 6) about any deviation from the instruction manual and all other installation issues.

Let me know what u come up with..

been trying to do the same on a '93/37.5 (same hull) without much success. If your locker behind the head is like mine, it will take up a good deal of room because with the depth, it won't go down very far.

lectra san

For anyone who might be interested, I call Raritan and spoke with their Tech department and was told that when mounting the lectra san tank above the toilet discharge all that is needed is a vented loop 6 to 8 inches above the tank so that the tank does not drain back into the toilet.

That's 6-8 at any angle of heel, jeb.

Not just when the boat is at rest. Heeling changes the waterline...and therefore also the position of everything relative to it. So the loop has be high enough to remain at least 6-8" above the tank at any angle of heel.

You are absolutely right, Peggy, angle of heel must be taken into account. Thanks again for your suggestions.
