Leaves of change

How has the changing of leaves been in your area? With negatives in rainfall this year, things weren’t as intense, but always enjoyable.

Nothing spectacular this year, but

the colors are adding to the beauty of the Mnt. mitchell range and Lindville gorge entrance seen sailing in Lake james. Also, leaf changing season is typically the best wind season here as well. Been low to mid 70's and 10-15 mph winds most of the past week!

Ohio was spectacular

We had brilliant colors on every tree, including the oaks, whichis rare. Usually they turn brom and thats it. The grape harvest was just as spectacular with record harvests. Ohio, PA, and New York make some of the best wines in the world.This time of year the winds blow out of the south, and when you are in grape country, while out on the lake, the smell is unbelievable. Like living in a Welches grape jelly jar. This past Saturday/Sunday we had winds of 40 knots with gusts up to mid 50's. Not many leaves left on the trees. But it sure was pretty while it lasted.And this has been a warm fall too. Everyone is trying to find someone who left their boat in the water to go sailing one more time. Usually we get one snowfall by now.

Prettier in the past, but beautiful none-the-less

The summer drought has taken it's toll on this year's foliage show, but it has still been quite beautiful.Maybe New England autumns can begin to make up for so many months of non-sailing...hmmm - for me, it's a fair trade off - that, and watching my woods fill up with snow (as long as I don't have a plane to catch!)But Michael - surely, in NC, your sailing season in longer than up here in zone 5??!
