Would 8 track tape work? I got a bunch but was hoping it will come back

Kito, I was talking to some Thistle racers, and I mentioned the cassette tape thing. They told me they prefer 8-track tape, because it's more durable than cassette tape, yet flies better than VHS tape.

Since I had cassette tape hanging around, but no 8-track, I put cassette tape on the shrouds. Don't you know first day out, my hands were wet, and I reached for the shroud. Tape blew around my hand, stuck, and as I pulled away, it stretched and nearly broke.

I went to my local farmer's market, which has a stall full of old music. It's mostly CDs now, and some vinyl, but I asked about 8-track. He had to go looking until he found a box under everything. He was like "Take as many as you want!" So, I now have an 8-track tape just waiting to get cut up and taped to the shrouds.

rather than taping the cassette tape directly to the shrouds, place a small dab of duct tape, or whatever, on the shroud and then tie the cassette tape of choice right above that. this way the cassette tape can still rotate around the shroud, but won't slide down it. I use it all the time on my little boat (Capri 14.2).
