Boat pulls hard left when you let go of wheel, both under power or sail. Any ideas. It is a shoal draft.

Does it pull left while sailing on either tack? Every Catalina I've operated wants to pull a little left under power (propwalk interacting with the rudder).

But they shouldn't do that at all under sail, excepting weather/lee helm types of issues, but those would change depending on what tack you're on.

Single or dual rudder?
If single, maybe the skeg is bent, or if a folding prop is installed maybe one blade is stuck OUT. Another thing is damage to the rudder.

Dual rudder: alignment.

You do realize this isn't the Catalina Company, right?

The only reason something is wrong with the steering is... Something is wrong with the steering.
And it's pretty difficult to diagnose the precise reason(s) absent some description of the condition of the quadrant, post and rudder.

If you let the leasing company know, you've done your part. They should have staff/vendors that can diagnose the issue. You may want to put a review of the leasing company on Trip Advisor, or Yelp, or something, to help the next guy down the line.
