I just did it!

I just did a major repair on all my windows. I bought the gasket stuff from CatalinaDirect, which cost a lot of extra cash to get it up here in Canada. The frames were sealed with butyl tape from an RV shop. Since I just did it this last weekend, I don't know if the butyl tape works or not. With rain expected this weekend, we'll see. To do the full job - removing frames from cabin and removing glass from frames, it took 3 hard working guys 16 hours and 2 cases of beer. I would start with removing and resealing the frames. Don't tackle the full job (the glass) unless you are sure it leaks from there. The frames are the easy part and don't take a lot of time (relatively speaking). Here's a website that shows the easier part. Good luck!

Window Leaks

I did the windows on my C-22. It took 1.5 days to do four windows. Order new gasket material first. I would use a silicon sealer instead of the butyle tape. I may regret it later, but I installed mine with 4200. David

portlight repair

Rob, by my math you guys were having three beers an hour during your repairs. Say, about 10 - 15 minutes a beer didn't leave too much time for working. No wonder it took you so long. Ha Ha. Sorry , just couldn't resist. I know from experience this can be a bear of a job. Let us know if the leaks are fixed.

Canadian beer math

Gerry: In Canada, a case of beer = 12 cans. In the US, of course a case = 24. With 2 (Canadian)cases in 16 hours divided by 3 people, that makes for 1 beer every 2 hours per person. I prefer the US beer math! (But of course we all know that Canadian beer tastes better!) PS - I am hauling the boat and replacing all the "volcano" thru-hulls tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Arggghhh!!!

About the butyl tape that I tried...the windows leak worse than before! I am hoping that it isn't the glass to frame part. I am going to take a closer look if it ever stops raining here!
