Leaky Oil Pan

I get some oil leaking when I run my Yanmar 3GMF. Its not enough to even replace oil throughout the summer and I change it at the end of the season. I wipe off the bottom of the pan after each time I use it. It seems to be coming out of the rear pan , probably a leaky gasket. Is this a simple replacement (i.e. remove the bolts, drop the pan, replace the gasket, and put back on) or does it sound like a dealer repair item? I have tigtened the bolts a bit but that didnt help. Is there a torque wrench value for these bolts?

Oil leak

Your crankcase oil pan does not have much depth, meaning that the oil therein is always above the pan gasket. If your leak is only while running, you should take the time to find out where it really leaks before spending time on changing the wrong thing. Any leak will make the bottom of the pan drip. First, be sure that the oil level is at, or below, the full mark on the dipstick. Next, clean the engine as best you can. Then look for the source of the leak while the engine is running. Good light and mirrors help this job. Sometimes a little dusting with talcum powder lets you find the headwaters. Just be aware that there are belts and things that can do great bodily harm. The most common source of leaks that we find come from the rocker arm cover, at the top of the engine. Happy hunting.
