Seal replacement.
I have a 1996 oc 281 that has "old standard" lewmar portlights. I just replaced a seal in one of them last week. It's not a hard job at all. The worst part is getting all the old silicon off the portlight frame after you tear out the old seal. There is a narrow slot that the seal "snaps" into that is hard to get cleaned out. I ended up getting a dental pick from a hardware store and used that in combination with a sharp knife and small flat-blade screw driver to clean off the frame. It took about 30 minates to get it ready for the new seal.Once I had it as clean as I could get it (not perfect), I dry fit the seal into the frame just to make sure it would snap in. Next, you remove the new, dry fit seal, put in a bead of silicon sealer, snap the new seal in place and close/dog the portlight until the silicon sets up.My leak is gone. Instructions come with the seals. They are a little confusing but if you follow them closely, this isn't a big job.Good LuckBill
