Our new to us 2000 411 was very lightly used and I suspect that the portlight seals have either dried out or are distorted from lack of use. Now whenever it rains or we ship water over the deck, the portlights leak. I will order a complete new set of seals, but would be interested in how they are installed or hard they are to change. The portlights are the Old Standard model according to their website. Thnaks, S/V Ambition

Seal replacement.

I have a 1996 oc 281 that has "old standard" lewmar portlights. I just replaced a seal in one of them last week. It's not a hard job at all. The worst part is getting all the old silicon off the portlight frame after you tear out the old seal. There is a narrow slot that the seal "snaps" into that is hard to get cleaned out. I ended up getting a dental pick from a hardware store and used that in combination with a sharp knife and small flat-blade screw driver to clean off the frame. It took about 30 minates to get it ready for the new seal. Once I had it as clean as I could get it (not perfect), I dry fit the seal into the frame just to make sure it would snap in. Next, you remove the new, dry fit seal, put in a bead of silicon sealer, snap the new seal in place and close/dog the portlight until the silicon sets up. My leak is gone. Instructions come with the seals. They are a little confusing but if you follow them closely, this isn't a big job. Good Luck Bill
