I have an Oday daysaier that has a leak on the inside of the boat. There on the inside where the mast support connects to the inside of the hull there is a ridge that supports the bottom of the mast support. I have been told that in order to repair this I must cut the inner hull and make sure that the two huuls are well supported under this area and to do this I must cut the inner hull and take all the old insides out and then replace it so that there is a solid support between the inner hull and the outer hull. Then I can replace it all and refiberglass the part of the inner hull that has been cut out and it will be solid and it wont crack anymore and it will quit leaking. Can anyone confirm this operation and give me some info about it? my email is < aldbldr@copper.net> Thanks for the help, Al

Al; If you haven't already seen it, go to the photo forum and read the article about the mast compression support post repair. It sounds much like what you are up against, and gives a very detailed explanation of the procedure, with pictures for each phase.

Rod Johnson,

O'Day 19, or Day Sailer ?

If this boat is a Day Sailer, I may be able to help with advice, my cuddy floor cracked under the mast. If you have an O'Day 19, check with other 19 owners or call Rudy Nickerson at D&R Marine (508) 644-3001. If this is a Mariner, Rhodes 19, or 192...the fix will also be different. The description of how to fix this sounds like major work for what is broken, sounds like far more work than needed!
