I recently replaced my vacuum break (vented loop) with a Vetus unit. This is the second time I have done this in two boats. In this one, a Legend 40.5, I had wanted to retain the large, easy-radiused unit that was stock, but it was leaking on the engine, as had the one on my Vision 32. It appears the reason they leak is a fracture of the base of the nylon valve over time. The units are mounted by being screwed through the foam sound barrier. The riser and valve are thus pressed against the foam, and IMHO, the vibration and stress over time causes the valve to crack at its mounting base. So, you should order another now and replace it and put some spacers behing the mount so as to move it away from the foam a bit. The reason I wound up with the Vetus again is that its hard to find a stock replacement valve 15 minutes before store closing when you're leaving on a week's cruise. Good luck, Rick D.
