I OWN AN O'DAY 30 (1982). I WAS HAVING LEAKS IN THE MAIN CABIN AND IN THE HEAD. I PULLED ALL THE HAND RAILS AND RESEALED ALL THE THRU FITTING AREAS. STILL HAVE THE LEAKS WHICH COME INTO THE LIGHTS. HELP. RICHARD G.

Pesky Leaks

Richard, If you have a deck stepped mast, the step might need to be rebedded, there are also electrical connectors that go through the deck. Any place there is an opening cut, you have a possible leak, and it can run several feet from the original enterance to the point where you see it inside your boat. Depending on the year of your vessel, it might be a good time to start at the bow and rebed "everything" in sight, but give yourself plenty of time, at least a couple of days. ;) Ben Allen Montgomery, AL "Latte Dah" O'Day 26

We had same problems with our O'Day 28. The one suggestion I can give you is use duct tape on the suspected leak before you "fix it". We found we fixed a bunch of things that did not need it. By using the tape you can make sure you have found the problem. Good luck

I also own a 30 since last year and have taken care of most of the leaks. There is one on the port side over the front berth which I simply can't stop. It comes out of nawhere near the rail. The water runs behind the inside burlap and gets the foam all wet. Anyone knows how hard it is to dry out anything inside a closed up boat. Any suggestions.

Drying out

To help keep the interior dry and free or mildew, install one or more of those 24-hour forced vents. Won't fix the leaks but will keep the interior dry and sweet when it is not raining.
