I have a 94 26'. under the cockpit is a kingsize berth. I've been finding water there and when I took an inspection hatch off inside, I can see water dripping from some screwheads as well as along the fiberglass. Can i waterproof the cockpit deck somehow? Or should I silicon inside the cabin? also up higher is a light that had water in it. Any ideas?

John, I'm somewhat at a loss with your discription

of where you say the water is comming in at and on what screws and what light? Is the water pooling under the bilge pump cover or up on the bunk floor? And is your boat in the water when this happens or is it on the trailer? If you could supply these answers I think fellow owners of 26's can help. Good Luck Ray S/V Speedy

Seal up on outside

When caulking always caulk on the outside. If you silicon on the inside where the bolts protrude you will seal the water from the leak inside the fiberglass structure. Not only is caulking on the inside not the most effective method but this can accelerate delamination especially if the structure contains plwood!

The cockpit table base leaks frequently ...

...in these boats. Water collects there, freezes in the winter and cracks. sounds like that may be your problem. alan

Condensation

I get the same thing on mine. Two things I have done to help out a lot is a solar fan and I had a companionway cover made that covers the hatch boards aall the way up to the mast. Not sure where you live but down here humidity is a major issue Good Luck.

Table Insert Too

I also suffered from this last year. Quick and easy fix, once I discovered where it was coming from. T J
