Ok folks been through the forum & just want to make sure anybody doesnt have anything eles to add ! The bildge pump is cycling every 5 to 10 mins. New thru hulls, no leaks. New packing, No leaks. Water tanks, No leaks. All hoses secure ,No leaks. Next step haul & do the keel seam repair ????? Is it as basic as wire brush & dremel to the seam @ keel root, then applying 5200 ? 1983 34 hunter

Is it fresh or salt water?

Is it a leak???

A check valve leak back could also cause the problem. the pump pumps the bilge to the normal level and everything is fine till that strand of dog hair in the check valve allows the water in the discharge hose to leak back into the bilge and raise the level enough to activate the pump. Have them turn off the pump and verify that water is in fact coming in before you go further.

Bill may have it

The bilge pump outlet hose is about 17 feet long and prone to cycle if the check valve get fouled

keel leaks

Keels do not typically just "start leaking." You run aground or get VIOENTLY knocked down and the stresses cause a leak to start. Sitting in the marina should not cause this unless there is a MAJOR corrosion problem. But keel bolts are usually SS and the surrounding materials are lead or fiberglass. Not much to rust there. With that said I do not have any experience with this model.

had the same check valve issue

might want to put a strainer down there. Shower sump and draindown into the main can muck up the check valve. Also have em take a look under the aft berth and check the two bolts on the strut-throughs. I put large fender washers on mine. I would agree that if the keel was the culprit, there should be constant moisture around the keel bolts. Stern bolt is often forgotten....

If keel bolt, seam repair is not the answer

Lets hope the other folks are correct on the check valve issue. Should you be the unfortunate owner of a keel bolt leak then repairing the seam will only be a temp fix at best. These cast iron mothers have some pendulum effect under hard sailing and that joint will never remian water tight due to this flexing. I'd try re-torquing first (torque is cheap) and rebedding second as the ultimate fix ($$). However, as the others have said this is highly unlikely to be your problem so exhaust all else first.
