My windows are leaking around the glass. I purchased the gray window rubber seal from catalina direct, and installed it. They still leak. Any suggestions? 1986 cat. 36 #545 Longhope. Thanks, Brian D.

Window leaks

There's actually three pieces to the leaking window problem. (1) There is a green channel gasket that the glass sits in, and (2) the gray window gasket that goes around the window on the inside between the window and the frame and (3)a special sealant for the outside between the cabin side and the frame. Chances are if you haven't replaced all three , your windows will still leak. Make sure your seam where the gasket ends come together are at the top of the window. Good luck!

Damn windows!

The far most important barrier is the outer seal and in my experience too much sealant is only just enough! You can spend some time tidying up the external finish after the "too much" oozes out around the window edges, however at least you have more chance of an effective seal. Someting else I noticed when I resealed my (28 Mk I) leaking windows was the separations in the GRP layers of the cabin sides (apparent when the window frames was removed) allowed any water getting past the first(external) seal to move into those separations and do what water does in those situations. All the best

catalina tech support

I had a problem with my cat 30 windows. i was ready to take out and reseal the entire aluminum frame etc. thankfully i emailed catalina technical department they faxed me a great sheet which described a great fix. I have done all my windows and NO LEAKS (except one small one which is because I wasn't careful with the outside silicone bead. Contact Catalina.
