I recently purchased a 1997 Beneteau 461. Noticed now the bilge pump running very frequently. The bilge water is not salty (tasted it twice). We have 3 fresh water tanks and have figured out which one is the problem. Need advice re' repairing fiberglass water tank.

Do you have access to the tank's interior. If so, grind and then glass in new fiberglass with epoxy. Then coat the repaired area with a food-safe epoxy, like CeRAM Kote54, which is NSF-approved for potable water tanks.
look first at your hot water heater--if it is the square kind is probably leaking from a corner not visible to you..very very common problem. also check all your hoses and connections in the pressure water system--these are much more common problems than th water tanks in most boats other than formosas....
If it is leaking from the hot water heater or the plumbing then the pressure pump will occassionaly cycle. If it doesn't cycle when no one is using water then the culprit would be a tank.
You didn't say where the faulty tank was installed but if it's in the aft area of the boat check to make sure the swim platform shower mixer valve or shower head is not leaking. They can do so while rarely cycling the water pump yet leave a nice amount of water in the bilge. One way to verify it's the tank is to put some food coloring in it then see if the water in the bilge is the same color. Good luck.
