I own a 1980 Catalina 30 with a Universal 5411 diesel engine. A few weeks ago I noticed an oil leak. I could not see were the oil was coming from because the leak was blocked by the manifold and starter. Out of frustration I removed the manifold and found the oil sender was leaking oil.
Has anyone ever had this problem.

Mines not leaking, yet. That's an old engine, you've got to expect little things like this to start going. You can try tightening it, if that doesn't fix it just replace it. Don't try putting any kind of sealant on the threads, the sender must be grounded to the engine block to work. Go to your local or online Kubota tractor shop and get one for a Z500 engine in a B5100 tractor. Don't go to Torresson or other marine parts dealer, they'll charge you up to ten times the price for the exact same part. Most other engine parts can be sourced the same way, all Universal diesels are really Kubota tractor engines with a few marine parts installed.
