I know this topic has been addressed earlier; nonetheless, I was hoping for a little more direction if possible. My boat is a 1996 36 MKII with leaky chainplates. :(First of all should the tension be taken off the chainplates before attempting to re-bed? It seems logical to put the tension back on prior to applying the bedding compound otherwise when the tension is applied, it will put stress upon the bedding compound which has hardened prior to being put under tension.

Try Captain Tolly's

I had similar leaking chainplates, and solved the problem without rebedding. I used Captain Tolly's Creeping Crack Cure, which you can get at West Marine. It's a thin, milky product that gets absorbed at the point of the leak. Just keep applying it until no more is absorbed.
