I have a leaking water tank on a 1978 9.2 S2. Tank is under v berth with no obvious access. Look like I will have to cut a port. What is the best fix ?. Put a Bladder in old tank? Replace with plastic tank? try to seal ? It looks like it would be a mother to get out. Any suggestions ?

Been there...

I put in a bladder tank in a prior boat. I think a Ronco tank would be a far better solution. There are hundreds of designs. I think you can purchase one through this site. Do it right the first time and you'll be far better off. have fun!

Thanks for the advice, Things like this are always fun. A friend gave me a bigger water heater for the boat . My old one has been dead a long time so haven't used the fresh water system in a long time. I blame all my problems on the water heater gift. Clearly this is alll his fault. Thanks again

In case you do decide to replace the tank, here is a pdf describing the holding tank instllation I did last spring. The space under the V-berth was originally all storage but now contains the tank for storage of a different kind.:D Most of the time was taken up by the plumbing issues which you will not have to deal with. In all it's a pretty intimidating job to start but not all that difficult once you get going. (See attached photo & pdf for a detailed description)

Cheers

At the boat show a couple of years ago a fella had some welding rods that worked almost like solder but much stronger. He demonstrated welding aluminum with a benzomantic torch. It was amazing how simply it was applied. I sent for some but God only know what I did with them. I will try to fing his website when I get a chance.

Found it, it's called DuraFix. Website is durafix.com. There are several youtube videos of the stuff too.
