Hello all! After a serious rain I found water in the small storage compartment under the V-berth. It is coming from the top somewhere. I suspected the anchor locker, but it's just one piece and in good condition. I have also rebedded the D ring. Can anyone shed some light into the likely suspects? I'm guessing the bow pulpit. Anyone else have a guess?

toerail/stantions

If it's not the anchor locker or D-ring, then it's probably the toerails/stantions. Check for any signs of mildew streaks or staining that might indicate where the water is coming from.

Leak under V Berth

Thanks. Well, there are no stanchions on the frront of the boat so that's nit it. The water is coming from the top of the inside of the compartment in for forepeak.

Toerails or Bow plate

I'm having the same problem as you, Tim. At first I thought it was coming in from the anchor locker as I had a decent size crack in the glass. I repaired all the glass in the locker area, however,it continued to leak. After looking at the problem over the last few weeks I've come to the same conclusion as Kingprawn. The water must be coming in from either the toerails, stantions or the bow plate. When I wash the boat down I've noticed water seems to sit/pool around these areas. It's not a severe leak, but, enough to cause considerable mildew in the v-berth. I plan to rebed everything at the bow. I would have to imagine a 23 year old boat could use it. Good Luck, Todd, "Breakin' Wind"

Bowplate or Toerail

Thanks guys. I guess if I have poor sailing weather this weekend I'll tackle the bow plate and bow pulpit. I had the same cracks in my anchor locker, which I fixed with a couple layers of fibergalss mat and West Systems epoxy. I may go ahead and do the toe-rails as well. They could use a good clean-up anyway. Witrh an electric screwdriver it should be a fairly quick job. This leak is very small. Maybe 1/4" in the boat after 6" of rainfall. My major concern is water getting into the core. And of course there's my anal attitude toward water getting inside the boat. Once again, thanks guys! Tim
