I have a leak that as you sail or motor water is coming in back of boat. The port cockpit drain is ok no leaks through hull. I can't see past the diesel tank to see other thru hulls. How many thru hulls below water line??? I remember when boat was out two on the starboard one for exhaust and one other. I think the port maybe just has one for the port cockpit. Need ideas on what it could be. The rudder post is not leaking and it is running from what appears to be center of stern and leaks more when boat is sailing or motoring. Would like to fix without pulling boat. Can you take the exhaust without sinking the boat to remove the diesel tank to get back under rear seat storage??

Might be deck leak that presents when moving

I had a '84 31 with leaks in that area. I finally determined it was from the fuel fill cap and other deck items. The sealand between, for example the cap and the deck, eventually wears out. Water comes in and sits in the back of the aft lazerettes. When I moved the boat the water then accumulated further down in the locker. I finally got inside the locker, as best I could, and had someone spray water everwhere. Lots of leaks. just my 2 cents ...

check the stuffing box

this should only drip a drop or two when motoring. If more, it needs to be tightened. check the archives on site for how to do it and what to do it with. you might start with the link below..... http://archive.sailboatowners.com/archive/archivepview.tpl?sku=2000264070032.4&forumabr=ms&fno=4 Good Luck Bill Murray Good Faith 1995 H29.5 #175

Cockpit Scupper Drains

When underway, water does back up into them. A leak in the thru-hull or the hose could cause your problem. About a hundred other things could cause it too!!!

nipples

I just went threw this. I should say I went threw this for a year after tightening all the scubbers and crawling in every nook and cranny. I finally found it , although I really couldn't see it. Mine only leaked under power or sail. The problem was the fiberglass scubber nipple at the hull joint. Apparently there was a small hole or a poor fiberglass joint where the nipple and the hull are glassed together. You will have to lift the boat and touch up the fiberglass nipple joint. I found my leak by taking a flash light and looking under the aft bunk floor. It is hard to get your head in the inspection hole. I found a little trickle of water from what appeared to be the joint of the floor at the transom in the area of the scubber. You really can't see the scubber because the transom and floor and scubber all meet at one point. Of course you have to be under way to get it to leak.
