I have a leak some place in the over head part and need to take apart
the plastic molded ceiling above in Veeberth and want to know if I try taking it down will it interfere with the vinyl,I don't want to touch the vinyl or cause it to come apart.
Has anyone experienced working with the molded plastic on ceiling.

Nick, see if you can deal with the leak at its point of entry. Check all the deck fixtures including the pulpit and stanchions. Reseal if necessary. Unless damage has already occurred to the liner I would not mess around with it.

Nick,
you can remove the screws and carefully pull it down to look above it for the leak. I wouldn't worry too much about the liner - you can carefull pull it out of the grooves and then afterwards tuck it in. I use an upholstery tool but you can get a cheap automotive tool that does the same thing - it looks like a putty knife with rounded edges. A butter knife would also work

One way to avoid and find the leak quicker is to pressurize the cabin and look for where air is escaping out. Simply close off all ports putting tape around the seal, cover the entire companionway taping plastic over it and then putting a small slit in it in a cross style pattern, inserting a leaf blower thru the slit and taping the plastic to the leaf blower, have one other person with a big brush and bucket of real soapy water, turn leaf blower on and then brush every fitting, rub rail and so on. Where you see air bubbling out, volah! You found your water leak or leaks. That way in many cases I did not have to tear the boat apart to look for leaks.
