I've had a mystery leak for some time and now have narrowed it down to coming from the top of the sleeping berth area. Actually it's where there is a drop-down part of the ceiling in the berth that seems to conform to where the steering pedestal sits just above. There is a bead of caulk around the edge of this drop-down shape. I placed a tupperware pan against the rear wall panel so that as water dripped down the panel it would collect. After rains last week the pan now has about two inches of water in it. I could re-caulk the area but it must be leaking down from somwhere around the pedestal base ... unless the berth ceiling liner is simply directing the water to this spot from leaks elsewhere topside). I don't have a pedestal guard (or screw holes for the feet)so that can't be the source of the leak. Has anybody else with a H-27 (1989-94) experienced a leak at the steering pedestal base?. It's creating mildew in the cushions and even results in standing water in the engine bilge area.

No... thank God

Rick, Thankfully, I don't have any leaks, but what you describe sounds tough to find. The only advice I can offer is the cabin pressurization method. Seal the companion way with plastic, close all other openings and pressurize the cabin with a leaf blower. You can then go around the outside with a soapy spray bottle to see if any leaky bubbles show up. This method has been described in detail many times here if my post doesn't make sense. Sorry I don't have the answer Ward

Same leak on my 306

My 2004 306 has just developed a leak in the same relative place. Water is collecting in the headliner at the back of the aft cabin. There is an indention in the center of the headliner right at the back of the cabin. This indention is acting like a pan to collect the water. It eventually overflows and the water runs down the aft bulkhead. It's directly under the steering pedestal. If you have any luck finding your leak, share it with me and I'll do the same if I find mine.

Pesky Port lite

Rick Port lites are the worst, the cockpit portlite takes more punishment than all of them, Might try removing it and re-sealing it. Beleive it would drain to that area? Best I remember the pedestle bolts through the pit area except. Will look mine over the nest time I go down. Jim
