1995 Hunter 26. There's a forward bulkhead under the v-berth that I noticed had a 4" crack from which water was leaking from the most forward compartment (inaccessible) into the forward compartment. When I tapped it with a screwdriver, it squirted water, indicating that water is in that most forward compartment. I plan on cutting out the bulkhead and replacing it with a couple of 2x4s and glass-tab them in. Anybody been up there in that compartment before with a similar problem? Wondering where the water is coming from - possibly the bow eye?

r u talking about the vinyl covered wood...

...access panel? Thats the most foward part of the boat visible from the cabin. It is held in by screws but can be pryed out. Just above it is the anchor locker. Leaks from there; holes caused by anchor, locker drain broken or disconnected and the hole for reciving the locker pin can admit water. Oh, yeah, loose hardware above (like the "U" bolt BUT that may be too low) in need of rebedding can also allow water entry. alan

On my H26 the anchor locker drains through a fitting/hose/fitting which is routed through the forward most area under the Vberth to the hull. Under a previous owner it leaked. The dealer cut out the bulkhead repaired the problem and when rebuilding the bulkhead left a path out incase of any future problems. Sounds like you my have a similar situation. Mike
