I am getting ready to properly run my halyards aft; the previous owner sort of jury rigged it. I have a stainless steel halyard organizer plate that mounts under the mast, and the cams and clutches are already mounted on the cabin top on either side of the companion way. I intend to mount a deck organizer on the cabin top, outboard of the mast step, to lead the halyards through. Any tips or things to avoid in this procedure? Also, do I need flat mounted turning blocks between the mast base and deck organizer? Or, can I just put a pulley on the mast base organizer plate, run the halyard through there, and then out to the deck organizer and so back to the cockpit? Sorry for the lengthy post, and thanks.
