After 78 days of more or less match racing Francois Gabart and Armel le Cleac'h finished with barely three hours difference. It was the first time a monohull went around in less than the mythical 80 days.
A thousand miles away Jean-Pierre Dick is in fourth place and will attempt to finish the race without his keel!
Long distance racing seems to have little or no followers in America, in Europe thousands were doing the Vendee virtuel: second guessing the pros all the duration of the race.

I've been following on occasion and will check in every few days to see how they're doing. I lost more interest when Sam Davies dismasted. I really enjoyed following her last time, along with Derek Hatfield of course, and her enthusiasm for a very gruelling race.
