We are considering lazy jacks. We thought it best to attach the jacks to the shrouds. However, this may be a problem on a broad reach. We want to do away with the topping lift. It interferes with the roach in the main. Any thoughts?

I have a H280, which carries a full batton, full roach main. I have lazy jacks installed, along with a Harken batt-car system on the mast. I do not have any major problems greeting the main caught in the jacks. I have thought about "stretching" the jacks out with bungee cords to the spreaders, but not sure that would be worth the effort. I do like the fact that I can drop the main, and keep it on the boom until I can tie it up. Would not want to single-hand without them.skippinschool@gmail.com said:We are considering lazy jacks. Forgot to add that I have a boom kicker, but still have the topping lift in place. I bought it that way and have not seen a reason to remove the popping lift. It does not interfere with my main sail.Tanqueray said:I have a H280, which carries a full batton, full roach main. I have lazy jacks installed, along with a Harken batt-car system on the mast.
