Does Anyone Have Information on the Public Ramp at the Causeway in Sanibel Fla. If so, is there enough clearance in the parking area to raise the mast on the Hunter 260 and enough ramp and water depth to launch without a trailer extension? I am planning to trailer down to the area in April and sail for a week. Thanks Mark Cave Run Lake, Kentucky

You do realize that...

Sanibel was seriously damaged in the recent hurricanes. Aside from clearance, you should confirm that the ramp still exists/will be reparied.

Sanibel ramp

If it's the ramp I'm thinking of, it's on the mainland (east) end of the causeway right near the toll plaza. I think it's a county ramp, in which case you may be able to get some info on its condition from somebody at Lee County. I found a website some time back that you may find useful. It's Florida Sea Grants inventory of SW Florida anchorages, containing detailed descriptions, navigation information and other useful stuff. Two anchorages are listed close to the causeway. The link is included below. Good luck. Peter H23 "Raven"

Ill let ya know

I plan on launching my 1993 Hunter 23.5 from that ramp sometime next month. I know the ramp is still open, but I've never used it before so I'm unsure on the other questions. I'll let you know the conditions after I use it.

Sanibel Ramps

There are two ramps, one run by Lee county on the mainland side of the causeway and the other on Sanibel run by the city of Sanibel. Both are open.
