Mike and Steve,Well, Here is where I am. The owner of the boat I looked at is willing to haul out the boat and get an estimate. If the estimate 1)reveals a conclusive diagnosis to the problem with the hull 2) is within a reasonable amount of money and 3) can be repaired to maintain the integrity of the hull (based on input from marine surveyor), the owner is willing to foot the bill for the keel and the hull. Assuming the problem is fixable and is not a "show stopper," do you think I am asking for trouble? Although the $550 I currently have invested is not a lot of money compared to the price of the boat; for a guy like me, it is still $550.
