Anyone had to remove and reinstall the soft headliner used on the late model Hunters yet? I need to drop one side of the salon to correct a manufacturing issue and am not familiar with the removal and installation of this system. What type tool is best to spring the track for removal and what tool did you use to roll the material back into the track? any caveats? Thanks and have a great day!

Just pull gently from a corner

The dealer told me that you pull gently from a corner and it should come right out of the groove that holds it in the ceiling. To reinstall it, he said to use the edge of a CD to roll the headliner back into the groove.

Thanks Guys!

I thought about rounding the corners of a cheap plastic throw-away type putty knife to use as a tool. I'm grateful to you for easing my concerns as to how fragile the material is and am more comfortable knowing others have been able to reinstall the liner. So much for 'due diligence' and on to my normal approach...Ramming Speed!!! Have a great day!

removing a portion of the fabric headliner

Hi MKing: I removed sections of my headliner on both sides adjacent to the companion way. I wanted to install backing nuts & washers on the companionway frame to hold down the base of a doghouse type dodger. The process was slow going in order to make sure that the fabric headliner was not damaged or scratched. Basically, I used two different shaped plastic putty knives to spread the tynes apart that hold the sewn seam on the fabric in place on the underside of the coachroof & then pulled the fabric out of the tynes with my fingers a few inches at a time. By repeating the process a few inches at a time, I was able to pull out 3' of the headliner on the port & starboard sides of the companionway without scratching the headliner fabric. Good Luck ! :) Maxwell Blanchard, voyagerMDR@gmail.com
